| what is the big blue ball project?
Big Blue Ball: Pictures, people, place is an
international research project, conducted by Dr. Donna Wright, an artist, researcher and educator living and working in Brisbane, Australia. The project utilises creativity and creative arts
practice as a way of sharing ideas across cultures. It facilitates
intercultural dialogue, broadening understandings about ourselves and
our world, encouraging diversity awareness and tolerance.
Over 150 participants from more than 95 nationalities
have responded creatively to a selection of images and have produced
paintings, collages, digitised artworks, photographs, poetry, narratives and free word associations. These intercultural interpretations are showcased on the website - simply click on the responses link on the left to view the collection.
The project is extended through an artistic exchange
between Donna and project participants
from around the world. The outcome of this exchange takes the form of
200 miniature paintings on small magnetised wooden blocks - these can be viewed by clicking on creative exchange on the left. The creative exchange page also gives you access to ongoing interchanges of ideas generated from the project.
The project website provides both an exhibiting space for the Big Blue Ball collection and an a place for creative exchange.
