Donna Wright

Donna Wright is an artist and researcher specializing in intercultural communication, visual culture and creative arts practice. She is also an educator having worked in both the vocational education and higher education sector for over 18 years. Big Blue Ball: Pictures, people, place began in 2004 as her PhD research project which was carried out under the direction of Southern Cross University, Australia.

Through the use of the creative and visual arts, Donna explores how meaning can be reconstructed through cross-cultural exposure and intercultural exchange. Her ongoing practice-based research investigates the nature of meaning making and the significance of creativity and creative practice in setting up sites for shared understanding in a contemporary and globally interactive world.

Wright's own art practice takes on varied artistic forms encompassing traditional painting techniques and new media technologies. This provides an experiential environment for the development and presentation of new ideas, with the experience of art-making and creative dialogue as essential elements for new knowledge creation.
